LIVE OAK, Fla. (WCJB) - A man from Live Oak is serving three life sentences for sex crimes after pleading guilty to charges that could have carried the death penalty.

Suwannee County Sheriff’s deputies said Craig Ames, 60, plead guilty last Thursday for charges including sexual assault and child porn possession. Ames was arrested in July of last year.

Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law in June allowing the death penalty for sex crimes against children under 12.
