LAWRENCE, Mass. —

A woman gave birth to her baby in front of a Lawrence Market Basket location Tuesday afternoon, all with the help of some responding police officers.

Lawrence police said they received a call from a pregnant woman that her water had broken on the 600 block of Essex Street just after noon Tuesday.

When officers arrived, the woman was already in labor, and the baby was safely delivered with the officers' help before EMS arrived to render aid.

The mother and baby were taken to the hospital and are receiving medical attention.
