WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - The owner of several popular brunch spots is expected in Mansfield court Wednesday on charges she wrote fraudulent checks.

Gina Luari, who owns The Place 2 Be restaurants, is accused of writing two bad checks totaling more than $10,000 , according to East Hartford police.

Police said the manager from a restaurant equipment store filed a fraud complaint against Luari.

The store manager said Luari had written two checks from a closed bank account, causing them to bounce.

The store manager told police this was the fifth time Luari had written bad checks to the company, according to the complaint.

When police contacted Luari, she told investigators she did not realize the account was closed and was going to pay the store back, police said.
