MANSFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - Three people were rescued from a house fire Tuesday evening at a local alpaca farm.
The fire broke out at 441 Warrenville Road, known as Khuyay Farm, around 6:30 p.m., according to town officials.
The two-story home houses a locally known farm that raises alpacas.
A deputy chief with the Mansfield Fire Department who lives nearby was first on scene and went straight into the home with only an air pack to rescue everyone inside, officials said.
He took all three people out of the home.
A Life Star helicopter was called to the scene but never arrived, officials said.
Fire departments from Killingly, Willimantic, Willington, Columbia, Ashford and UConn responded to the scene, along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Connecticut State Police.
