Some young Hoosiers working to flip Indiana blue are frustrated by what they describe as a lack of vision from the Democratic Party, adding to a chorus of voices dissatisfied with recent losses on both a national and state level.
Their message for Democrats?
“Your same boring policies won't get people to vote,” 18-year-old Rafael Manzo of Gary told IndyStar.
“Stand on business and grow a spine,” said 25-year-old Jackson Franklin, a candidate for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District.
These sentiments are the hallmarks of a generation marked by a particularly tumultuous time in American politics. It's a feeling familiar for Indiana Democratic Party Chair Karen Tallian, who said she felt the same way when she was younger.
But Tallian rejected the claims that Democrats lack bold policies.
