TRAVERSE CITY — Ethics rules for Traverse City commissioners, employees and other board members will soon be in effect.

Now, voters will decide if the city charter should be amended to require such an ordinance be on the books, whatever future form it may take. City commissioners on Monday voted 5-0, Mi Stanley and Mayor Pro Tem Mark Wilson absent, to adopt the 12-page ordinance laying out rules anyone serving the city — elected, volunteer or employee — must follow, effective eight days from publication.
