EAST LANSING — If you’re looking for reasons why Saturday night’s Michigan State-Michigan football game is important — beyond the standard toxic rivalry fare — look no further than how MSU sophomore receiver Nick Marsh came into this thing.

Four years ago, then barely 15 years old, Marsh was on MSU’s sidelines as Kenneth Walker ran for five touchdowns and MSU beat the Wolverines in one of the rivalry’s more epic games.

“For me, my favorite was 2021. Just seeing that game sparked the fire up with me,” Marsh said Tuesday. “So anytime we’ve got these guys coming up, I’m going to go home, I’m going to watch that game.”
