Two men died in a tragic car crash on the A66 after an elderly driver travelled along wrong side of the road, an inquest has heard. Arthur Seaman, 84, of Norton , and Keith Macartney, 41, died at the scene of a crash on the A66 at Long Newton on February 11, earlier this year .
Retired engineer Mr Seaman was driving a car in the wrong direction on the A66 carriageway and collided with another car, which was being driven by Mr Macartney. Both men suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Teesside Live reported at the time how the crash occurred at around 9pm on Tuesday, February 11, and involved a involved a black Nissan Qashqai and a red Vauxhall Astra. Emergency crews flooded the scene and the road was closed for over eight hours.
