INDIANAPOLIS — may not get any help in November due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.
13News obtained a letter sent by the Food and Nutrition Service, part of the USDA, that says, in part, "if the current lapse in appropriations continues, there will be insufficient funds to pay full November SNAP benefits for approximately 42 million individuals across the Nation."
That number includes about 600,000 Hoosiers, roughly 10% of the state's population. Funding for SNAP continued through October, despite the shutdown, but the contingency fund is now running out of money.
