NEW ORLEANS —
Now, her family is searching for answers.
Edashia Caraway was visiting New Orleans alone for a concert at the Smoothie King Center. She was killed the day before her 27th birthday.
Her mother, Tolamy Gray, says she’s struggling to process the loss.
“I was finally able to take a shower and eat because I just haven’t had the energy to do anything,” Gray said. “I’m having waves of grief all over again. Missing my baby.”
Gray says her daughter’s trip worried the family, but Caraway reassured them she’d be safe.
“The entire family tried to talk her out of it,” Gray said. “But she was like, ‘Mom, you have my location. I have money for Ubers. I’m gonna be OK.’”
Investigators with the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office say Caraway was struck by a vehicle on the Twin Span Brid
