Fluorescent orange is definitely in fashion during Pennsylvania’s hunting seasons that include special firearms seasons for black bear and white-tailed deer this week.
Sure, it’s also archery season. But unlike a bow or crossbow, a rifle or shotgun can fire a projectile much farther. This increases the importance for hikers, dog walkers, birdwatchers and others to be seen while enjoying Penn’s Woods.
The special firearms seasons for bear and antlerless deer run statewide Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 23-25.
This bear and deer hunt is only open to junior and senior license holders, those with a Pennsylvania Game Commission disabled person permit and residents actively serving in the U.S. Armed Services (including Coast Guard).
