SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - It could have been George Jetson’s house, complete with Jane, his wife, and his son Elroy. But it was the Sarasota home of Galloway Furniture. This space age building was part of a movement called “Tropical Modernism”. Designed by renowned architect Victor Lundy, it was only open as a furniture store for 5 years. Then it was covered up with wood panels and became the home of Vision Works for many years. A mural of the original building decorates the wood panels on the outside of the building. The mural was painted by “Mr. Fingertips” as part of the exhibit at Sarasota Art Museum. The interior exhibit is now on display at Architecture Sarasota until January 23, 2026.
