A £81.2million regeneration project for “one of the most deprived parts” of Cambridge has taken a step forward. Cambridge City Council has said it wants to redevelop areas in the north of the city to build up to 410 new homes, including at least 206 council homes.

The authority said the new council homes would replace existing “substandard” housing, with new homes built to meet modern space standards, to be more energy efficient, and be cheaper for tenants to run. The project is split into two main parts, including the proposed redevelopment of Arbury Court to build 213 new homes, including 107 council homes. This would be a net gain of 95 council homes.
