MESA, Ariz. — Three people were injured after a shooting incident in Mesa on Wednesday, the city's police department said.

Just after 11 p.m., officers arrived at the scene near University Drive and Lindsay Road for reports of shots fired in the area. According to police, the 911 caller said he saw someone running after hearing gunshots.

Once on scene, the officers found three gunshot wound victims. Authorities said the victims are in stable condition.

The identities of the victims were not released. The investigation into what led up to the shooting is ongoing.
