A mother-of-two has battled Westpac for work-from-home rights and won.

The Sydney employee, Karlene Chandler, has worked for the bank for 23 years but ran into problems once her kids reached school age this year.

The Wilton woman was unable to drop her two six-year-old children off at their private school at 7.45am each weekday and make the two-hour journey to the bank’s corporate office in Kogarah where she starts work at 8am.

Chandler, who generally finishes work at 2pm, was also unable to make it back to the school for her children’s 2.25pm finish.

Her self-employed husband is also not able to help with the drop-offs and pick-ups due to the unpredictability and often interstate nature of his work, according to the Fair Work Commission.
