Former Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq is set to be appointed as the Director of International Cricket Operations at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

As per the board’s qualification for the key position, the role requires a former domestic or international cricketer, a qualification Misbah comfortably meets.

A PCB source revealed that chairman Mohsin Naqvi personally persuaded Misbah to take up the position, believing his experience as both captain and head coach makes him the right choice to oversee Pakistan’s international cricket operations.

Misbah is still closely associated with the PCB in his capacity as mentor and advisor to the chairman on cricket matters and is said to have played a big part in the removal of Mohammad Rizwan as captain of the ODI squad.
