For years, fast food has been an affordable dining option for Americans, but these days, things have changed drastically.

According to the latest Consumer Price Index report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released in September, the index for limited-meals, which includes fast food, rose 3.6% over the last 12 months, compared to the 2.9% increase the food category saw overall in the same period.
