NEW ORLEANS — Two people are dead after a shooting in Algiers Wednesday morning, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Officers said a 16-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man were identified as the victims.

The shooting was reported in the Behrman neighborhood around 7:49 a.m. in the 1800 block of Jo Ann Place.

Police said the teen girl was pronounced dead on the scene and the man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Witnesses who want to remain anonymous shared first hand accounts with WWL Louisiana of the tragic shooting. According to witnesses, the man was seen pacing in the neighborhood for about an hour near the girl's home.
