Former Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey is one of eight first-year-eligible modern-era players to advance in the voting process for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Pouncey, a nine-time Pro Bowl and two-time first-team All-Pro selection in his 11 years with the Steelers, joins receiver Hines Ward and linebacker James Harrison among the 52 players who advanced in the process.

Two former Pitt players who are also in their first year of eligibility —- receiver Larry Fitzgerald and running back LeSean McCoy — advanced to the field of 52.

Pouncey is trying to become the third Steelers center, along with Mike Webster and Dermontti Dawson, to be elected to the Hall of Fame. The Steelers and Miami Dolphins are the only teams with two centers in the Hall of Fame.
