A 32-year-old St. Catharines man has died after a six-vehicle collision on Highway 406 in Thorold.
The highway has now been closed in both directions between Beaverdams Road and St. Davids Road.
In a post on X, Burlington Ontario Provincial Police media officer Const. Rob Tihor said the collision occurred at around 6:45 a.m. when a southbound vehicle travelld into the northbound lanes for an unknown reason.
The driver of that vehicle was the one killed in the collision, Tihor said. He added other people involved in the collision reported minor injuries.
Police initially closed the northbound lanes of the highway. However, in an update posted shortly after noon, police said the highway will be closed in both directions.
The highway is expected to remain closed until at least 5 p.m.
