HAZEN, N.D. (KMOT) - A small chain of rural North Dakota grocery stores is changing ownership.

Krause’s Market is a family-owned grocery store with locations in Hazen, Garrison and Washburn.

Co-owners and siblings Dalles Krause and Kari Olson announced Monday that they are selling to a larger chain.

Ownership will be taken over by Darin and Valerie Hill, who own “The Market” with 25 other grocery, hardware and liquor stores across seven states.

Olson said it was a tough decision, but that it will allow for better service to customers with a larger-scale business.

She added that the new owners will provide a more competitive edge with big-box stores.

The transition of ownership is set for January.
