WAUTOMA, Wis. (WBAY) - The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday a man who died during a standoff with law enforcement last week probably did not die from a self-inflicted gunshot.
The man was identified as Timothy Lehman, 51.
A new report from the sheriff’s office and Wisconsin Department of Justice said Lehman fired at officers responding to a report of domestic violence, and Deputy Alex Midthun shot back.
“The investigation has determined that the officer’s gunshots likely hit the subject, and the subject likely did not die from self-inflicted gunshot wounds,” the DOJ says.
Lehman was found dead after officers heard gunshots from inside the house, where Lehman had barricaded himself, following attempts to negotiate with him.
