MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Janesville Fire Department is highlighting the importance of working smoke detectors after a fire broke out in a house Tuesday night.
At around 7:30 p.m., a call came in for a fire in the 500 block of Chatham Street.
Twenty-two firefighters responded the home and when they arrived, they found smoke coming from the back of the home. Firefighters quickly put out the flames.
People who were living in the home got out safely before firefighters arrived.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Officials said there have been a string of fires recently. They emphasized smoke and CO detectors should be located on each level of a home, including in a basement. Smoke detectors should also be placed near or in all bedrooms, the agency noted.
