Organizers of a Beers and Queers night at a Kitchener brewery cancelled their event after police informed them of a group that was potentially targeting the event.

In a social media post, the event organizers, KW Gays and Theys, said they decided to cancel the queer-friendly pub night at Together We’re Bitter (TWB) Brewery co-op in Kitchener due to an anti-LBGTQ protest that might target queer events happening in the region.

“For everyone’s safety, we feel more comfortable cancelling and rescheduling this event. Looking forward to working with TWB again in the near future,” they said.

Waterloo Regional Police said that they received information regarding a potential disruption at an unspecified upcoming 2SLGBTQIA+ event taking place in Kitchener on Oct. 21.
