A beloved Maryland son, brother, and friend is being remembered after passing unexpectedly this week.

Andrik Cortes Morfin, 23, of Essex, died on Monday, according to his obituary from Connelly Funeral Home of Essex.

“Andrik passed tragically on Oct. 20. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend,” friend Sara Cosby wrote.

“Though his life was short, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.”

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to the area of Pulaski Highway and Stevens Road, where there was a reported crash involving a motorcyclist and SUV.

Police said that Morfin was riding a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle west on the highway when he struck a 2025 Chevy Trax exiting a parking lot.

Morfin was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Born in February 2002, in Mexico, Andrik was the son of Angel Cortes and Susana Morfin. He is the brother of Mackenna Cortes Morfin and Derek Cortes Morfin, and the grandson of Linda Martinez and Efrain Cortes.

“Our family is heartbroken over this tragic loss," she said. "Please consider donating to help during this unbearable time. Thank you and may God bless your giving heart.”

A GoFundMe created by Cosby has raised more than $10,000 to help Andrik’s family with funeral expenses.

"'What we have once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us,'" organizers shared.

"Any and all donations are greatly appreciated in this unexpected time of tragedy."
