Looking to boost sales this holiday season, Toys "R" Us is once again opening new stores, including California locations in Ventura County and in the Bay Area.
The toy retailer announced on Oct. 16 that it will open more than 30 locations in the U.S. for the winter holiday season, including eight flagship stores and more than 20 temporary seasonal shops.
Toys "R" Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017, and by 2018, the toy retailer announced the closure of more than 700 stores throughout the U.S. Over the years, Toys "R" Us attempted comebacks under new ownership, but none have proven successful. Most recently, the retailer opened a flagship location in Minnesota's Mall of America in 2023, which remains open.
