SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - With the cold weather fast approaching, it’s time to think about what this environment will be like for unhoused individuals.

City officials on Wednesday provided an update on the plans they have to support the homeless community in these cold months.

The newest update includes progress on the city’s Community Extreme Weather Plan.

“One size does not fit all, meaning that not every shelter is meant for every person and that we continually need to be assessing what that looks like for our community,” said Michelle Treasure, the Homelessness Services Coordinator for the City of Sioux Falls. “Family reunification is a priority.
