GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - As the government shutdown enters its 22nd day, making it the second longest in U.S. history, local businesses in the Grand Valley are stepping up to support affected federal employees.
Timberline Bank and Housing Resources of Western Colorado are among the local organizations offering assistance to those impacted by the shutdown. Timberline Bank has introduced a loan program with 0% interest and no payments for six months, while Housing Resources provides HUD-certified housing counselors to help manage financial difficulties.
"I can't imagine what that would feel like," said Louise Goodman, the Grand Junction branch president of Timberline Bank. "Everybody needs a paycheck. That's why we all go to work."
