COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio lawmakers took a major step toward regulating intoxicating hemp products Wednesday, as the House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved a substitute version of Senate Bill 56. The legislation now heads to the Senate for consideration.
The bill would impose new restrictions on intoxicating hemp-derived consumables such as edibles, gummies and beverages containing Delta-8 THC, a compound that produces a milder high than marijuana. These products are commonly sold at vape shops and gas stations across the state.
