SANDY, Ore. (KPTV) - A historic barn belonging to Malco’s Buxton Meats was destroyed in a fire Tuesday night. While the USDA meat plant and butcher shop plans to rebuild, the loss of the barn is already having an impact on business.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Clackamas Fire responded to a report of a brush fire on Dunn Road. When they arrived, they found a barn fully engulfed in flames.

“The fire was just enormous. It had to be over 100 feet when we pulled up here,” said Eddie Malkovsky, a manager of Malco’s Buxton Meats.

Malco’s Buxton Meats is a family-owned USDA meat plant and butcher shop that has been open since 1942. The business is one of just a few that serves farms in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
