HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Pine Belt Mental Healthcare and Harrison County leaders cut the ribbon at the new Intellectual Disabilities Center on Wednesday morning. It’s a project County Supervisor Rebecca Powers said has been years in the making.

“It is literally tailored, custom-made specifically for these wonderful adults with disabilities,” Supervisor Powers said.

The new building offers multiple communal spaces along with an outdoor picnic area and a splash pad.

The improvements allow Pine Belt Healthcare to double its clients, and the new location will extend services to all parts of Harrison County.

Clients and families toured the center after the ribbon cutting. Patsy and Cornel Cuevas say they are excited for their son, Jason, to be a part of the program.
