BURLINGTON, N.C. — Local officials say a massive new Food Lion distribution center will bring hundreds of jobs and long-term economic benefits to the Triad.

On Tuesday, Guilford County commissioners approved a $17.9 million incentive for “Project Titan,” an $860 million investment by Ahold Delhaize USA, the parent company of Food Lion. The approval came less than 10 minutes after the public hearing began. Earlier in the day, Burlington City Council also voted unanimously to approve a $21.5 million incentive package for the same project.
