NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A push is underway to support Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) after some say the organization spent years being neglected.

Metro Council is considering a proposal that would form an advisory committee that would advocate on behalf of organization.

The bill underwent its second reading during the Metro Public Health and Safety Committee meeting Tuesday.

“It is time we step up, and give the people at MACC the support they need,” Metro Council member Russ Bradford said.

MACC is managed by the Metro Public Health Department.

In recent years, MACC has dealt with being at maximum capacity, limited staffing and a lack of funding. Councilmember Sheri Weiner believes it’s affecting operations at the facility.
