SMYRNA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Smyrna Town Council gathered for a special-called meeting Wednesday night to discuss the potential impacts of a new report showing Rutherford County has been miscalculating property values.
Tennessee Comptroller Jason Mumpower presented the findings to the Rutherford County Commission at their meeting last Thursday.
“The work of the county’s property assessor must be like a firm foundation for everything in the county,” Mumpower told commissioners. “But unfortunately, as I will explain to you tonight, in Rutherford County the assessor’s work is more like a pile of sinking sand.”
