COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Former South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents and employees are working to create a memorial honoring K9s who were killed while on the job.
Since K9s first began being used by SLED in the 1940s, seven of those officers have been killed in the line of duty. The former agents and employees with the division are hoping to create a memorial and have it placed outside headquarters.
The groups, Society of Retired Agents and Foundation of Former Employees of SLED, hope that the proposed memorial will help honor the legacy and important role K9s play in SLED’s work.
There are multiple ways to donate and help the groups raise money to build the memorial.
