NORTH LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A Las Vegas Valley family has been perfecting the art of tortilla making for years, and you’ve probably tasted their work without even realizing it.

If you’ve ever had a tortilla chip at a place on the Strip, then chances are it came from TI Foods in North Las Vegas. A family business that started in a garage nearly half a century ago has grown into one of the largest tortilla manufacturers in the valley.

“It’s wonderful to see how much the business has grown. It is seriously a family affair,” said Maria Teresa Gutierrez, now owner of TI Foods.

From door-to-door sales to major production

Back then, Gutierrez’s father drove a single tortilla machine from California in the back of a pickup truck and sold tortillas door-to-door.
