COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus City Schools announced Wednesday the decision to cancel Beechcroft High School's final football game of the regular season scheduled for Friday against Northland High School, citing "ongoing concern directly involving the safety of Beechcroft High School football student-athletes."
The cancellation comes during the final week of Ohio's high school football regular season. Due to the forfeit, Northland High School will be awarded a win per Ohio High School Athletic Association policy.
District officials told 10TV the decision was made "following several incidents of concern to the Principal and leadership team." However, the district declined to provide specific details about the nature of these incidents.
The cancellation follows a shooting Saturday night
