SALEM, Ohio (WYTV) - A Salem woman is helping give her brother a second chance at life by donating one of her kidneys, so he can watch his children grow up.
When Dustin Livesay learned that his kidney was failing, he wasn't sure what to do. He spent months in dialysis, but he knew it wasn't sustainable.
"I'd have to sit on dialysis the rest of my life... or... if there wasn't dialysis, and I wasn't doing that, you know, I would pass," Livesay said.
Livesay has been living with lupus, which is an autoimmune disease that has been destroying his kidneys over time. Sitting in the end stages of kidney failure, it was either be on dialysis forever or have a kidney transplant.
So his older sister, Sarah Bezeredi, went to see if she could be the one to save his life.
