MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -The City of Manitou Springs is alerting residents to a temporary road closure in effect for Thursday.

City officials said Ruxton Avenue will be closed from Brook Street to Bluff Avenue and Pilot Knob Avenue for emergency tree removal.

Tall Timbers Tree and Shrub Service will be on scene to address hazardous trees that the city says pose safety concerns to the public.

The closure will be in place from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Drivers are asked to use Capitol Hill to Montcalm to Pilot Knob Avenue to Upper Ruxton Avenue to detour around the closure.

Parking will be prohibited during the closure, and anyone currently parked on Ruxton Avenue between Brook Street and Pilot Knob Avenue is asked to move their vehicle before 7:30 a.m.
