MACOMB (WGEM) - This month marks three years since ground was broke on a new performing arts center on Western Illinois University’s campus.

WIU Deputy Director for Facilities Management Ted Renner said completion is expected in the spring, opening in time for the 2026-2027 school year.

“We’re looking at getting to a point where we are doing final flooring installing in the next couple of months,” Renner said.

The project faced supply chain setbacks early on, pushing back the original completion date.

The building, located directly next to the Corbin-Olson dormitory buildings, is 100,000 sq. feet and will feature a main theater with nearly 900 seats, extra classroom space, and a smaller theater.
