A Lubbock County sheriff's deputy was involved in a low-speed collision, causing the department to highlight the importance of obeying traffic safety laws
According to the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office , around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a deputy's vehicle collided with a bicycle at the intersection of 34th Street and the southbound I-27 Access Road.
At the time, the deputy was stopped at a red light at the intersection when the signal turned green.
According to the sheriff's office, the deputy slowly accelerated his unmarked car from a stop when a bicyclist crossed in front of him, to which the deputy applied the brakes immediately.
The bicyclist did not stop, with the front of the vehicle's bumper striking the bicycle, knocking it over.
