CANTON, Ohio — Flames broke out at a three-story, multi-unit apartment building in Canton late Wednesday night -- and fire officials now say "heavy equipment will have to be used to reach hot spots and to look for possible victims."
The Canton Fire Department says it was shortly after 11 p.m. when firefighters responded to the scene in the 700 block of 5th Street NE.
“Fire crews found heavy fire coming from the second and third floor on arrival,” according to a press release. “Early reports from bystanders stated that there were two or three people on the third floor."
3News' Candice Hare was at the scene Thursday morning where she reported that the building was boarded up prior to the fire because of structural issues.
