LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -When fighting a deadly disease, the last thing patients want to worry about is their budget. A local nonprofit called “It’s a Breast Thing” is working to change that reality for breast cancer patients across the region.
The organization raises money to help ease the financial burden that comes with cancer treatment, providing direct grants that patients can use for anything from medical co-pays to everyday expenses like gas and groceries.
Dr. Carol Rapson, an oncologist at Red Cedar Oncology who has been treating breast cancer patients for decades, has witnessed firsthand how the nonprofit transforms lives.
