Two suspected criminals, injured during an encounter with police, were arrested while another miscreant escaped when police opened fire late Wednesday night in Lal Tappad area in Dehradun district. Based on an input, police placed a barrier at Lal Tappad. As the criminals did not stop at the checking point and opened fire on the police team instead, an encounter ensued. On receiving information about the encounter, the police were put on high alert in the surrounding rural areas and the SSP, Dehradun, Ajai Rai immediately left for the scene with other officers.
