The sighting of a leopard in the oil depot and the old ITBP cantonment area here late Wednesday evening left the people of the nearby villagers panicky. Though the Forest department launched an operation and it continued till late night the big cat could not be captured. The search was going on till the last report was received.
The Gaula Range forest officer, Chandan Singh Adhikari said that upon receiving the information about a leopard being sighted, a Forest department team had rushed to the spot. “The leopard is still on the loose and so the villagers must stay alert,” he warned.
