New Delhi: Mukesh Sahani, the 44-year-old founder of the Vikkasheel Insaan Party (VIP) and a prominent leader of Bihar’s Nishad community, has been named the Mahagathbandhan’s deputy chief ministerial candidate ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. This move is seen as a masterstroke by the alliance.
The announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as the alliance’s chief ministerial face was widely expected but Sahani as the Deputy CM face stole the spotlight. According to reports, Sahani had made it clear that he would not attend the alliance’s press conference without being assured a “respected position,” interpreted as the Deputy CM post.
The alliance leaders reportedly decided at the eleventh hour to accommodate his demand.
