The Alberta government has served formal notice that they will introduce back-to-work legislation to end the Alberta teachers’ strike.

Bill 2, known as the Back to School Act, was announced via an order paper published on the Alberta Legislature’s website Thursday.

The government has previously said it could introduce legislation to order teachers back to work as early as Monday.

Jennifer Black is bittersweet about returning to class to teach English to dozens of anxious Grade 12 students while feeling hopeless herself.

"I'm happy to return because I know the kids need me," Black said in an interview from her Calgary home.

"But I'm unhappy to return because nothing has changed."
