BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A 71-year-old Jackson Parish man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Plank Road in East Baton Rouge Parish on Wednesday afternoon.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as James Rasberry of Hodge. Rasberry was walking southbound on the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, according to state police.

Rasberry died at the scene. The driver fled.

The crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon near the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, just east of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport.

Trooper Shelby Mayfield, the Troop A Public Information Officer, said the call was received at 1:44 p.m. about a pedestrian who appeared to have been hit.
