ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A United States Postal Service facility in South Fulton avoided a scare on Thursday.
The facility was evacuated at 125 Villanova Drive in South Fulton when workers saw a “suspicious device” and called authorities.
The Atlanta Police Department’s bomb squad safely removed the package shortly before 10 a.m. from the building for evaluation.
The item was taken to a secondary location where it was determined to be a “real explosive,” police said. It is unknown what type of explosive this was.
“This is not the first incident of this nature reported at the same postal facility,” police said in a statement. “The South Fulton Police Department is actively investigating the source and circumstances surrounding this incident.
