GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - St. Leo’s Parish in Grand Island held its 21st Annual Coat Drive on Thursday.
According to St. Leo’s Parish Community Outreach Officer Peachis Amadou, the organization collected over 2,000 coats this year, with people still donating in the middle of the drive.
Amadou added that last year the parish collected close to 3,000 coats to give away, and she was proud of the community coming together to give back.
“Our parish is so special,” Amadou said. “Like, we are just always helping people in the community. We practice the Catholic social teachings. So, one of them is to take care of the poor and the vulnerable. And so we just always want to make sure that we are here to take care of our community.”
